The Bykenhulle House Bed & Breakfast was a dream come true. We have never stayed in a B & B before, so this Greek Revival home set the bar high. We were we greeted warmly by delightful, friendly Innkeeper Maria, who gave us a tour and showed us to our room. The house, with its abundance of amazing antiques, our 4 poster bedroom & property were all beautiful! Everything was clean, with up to date amenities while retaining that Old World feeling. This house has been well cared for by its owner and his staff. The owner, Bill, actually lives in the home and he enjoys chatting with guests. We found him charming and a delightful conversationalist! The breakfast was delicious and we were seated with the other ten guests (who came from California, Texas, Iowa, South Carolina and New Jersey) at a beautiful table in the dining room. Bill joined us and we chatted, laughed and enjoyed Maria’s yummy quiche and other goodies. It felt a world away from home, yet it felt just like home. It doesn’t get any better than that. We will definitely return to Bykenhulle House again. Mark
This inn is truly one of a kind. There aren’t many B&Bs like this left where the owner comes down greets you for breakfast and starts to talk about silicon semiconductor chips. What a pleasure/honor it was to meet William. Aside from the great hospitality, the room we had was very quaint and everything was updated, clean, and cozy. This certainly didn’t feel like a typical inn; the bed was super soft and so were the sheets — I felt like it was one of the softest beds I’ve stayed in. As for the location, you’re a short drive away from Beacon where there are some great restaurants as well as a short drive away from all the Cold Spring/Bear Mountain hiking trails. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re debating it, I hope this review gets you over the finish line. Thank you Bykenhulle House for a lovely stay! Alex K.
Awesome place! Went here for my boyfriend’s sister's wedding. The atmosphere in the place is very warm and welcoming. First floor has 2 sitting rooms, and the dining room where breakfast is served in the morning. The food was delicious. 3 course breakfast each morning. There are 2 floors that have the rooms to stay in them. Ours was a suite on the 3rd floor. We had a fireplace and jacuzzi, as well as a wonderful window seat that I enjoyed reading on. The grounds outside are well kept and beautiful. Perfect setting for a wedding. We plan on coming back to spend a weekend sometime soon. Would recommend this place to everyone. Sheryl
We hosted a bridal shower for my daughter at the Bykenhulle House and were so pleased! Our approximately fifty guests were all exclaiming about the beauty of the building and the ballroom. Kimberly, the Event Coordinator, had many wonderful ideas about the shower; I was easily able to make contact with her when I needed to, and she ensured that the room was set up to my expectations. The table linens were freshly pressed, and the tables were set beautifully. I used one of the suggested caterers and was very happy with the food and service. Kimberly made my job as host easy and comfortable; she worked well with the caterer and everything ran smoothly. I highly recommend Bykenhulle House for any events. Patty
We loved everything about this wonderful house! We stayed two nights, slept soundly, had great breakfasts, and enjoyed breakfast with Bill’s stories. Bill, who seems to have led ten lives! The house and the room are just what you want in a country inn. We enjoyed exploring Beacon, Cold Spring and Poughkeepsie, and we will recommend Bykenhulle House to anyone who is looking to stay in the area. Tom & Liz
Bridget and I had a wonderful stay during our girl trip. We enjoyed Bill’s stories of yesteryear and greatly appreciate Maria’s baking power. We will definitely recommend the B&B to friends and family. Loved the bow wallpaper in the bathroom! Julie & Bridget
We needed a short escape from our teenage children. What a break it was. Thank you Bill and staff; for making that time extremely pleasant with the small little extras that make our stay above the norm. Our stay made us recognize how important it is to stop and recharge. We will be sure to return in the future. Denise and Denise
B&B complemented our wonderful holiday in the area, provided a classic hospitality experience in a very beautiful setting. Breakfast with Bill (the owner), one of the pioneers and innovators of the 20th century computer industry, was an absolute delight and revelation. Sol & Sue
A wonderful and warm welcome to us two very tired people from afar. A good night’s rest and a long and interesting conversation with Bill for breakfast. We are truly recovered from all fatigue and now resuming our trip to the Berkshires. Elin & Marty, Norway
We had a wonderful stay in this wonderful house! Warm, welcoming, beautiful. Bill and his innkeeper Maria and staff member Melissa ensured we were well taken care of. I looked at the notes from those who came before me and wholly agree with the wealth of praise given here. Thank you so much; we will be back! Alice & Mike, CA. PS: the FDR Home is a must!
This was a unique experience. The hospitality was so appreciated. Bill’s conversation in the a.m. helped to make us realize we were meeting a very special human being. This was a lesson in history as well as how important is it to live one’s life to the fullest. The room/estate is done with fine taste and pride. We thank you for your hospitality and generosity. A most memorable stay. Thank you so very much. Barb & Bob
